Experiencing self-empowerment through physical movement – that is the premise of this piece choreographed by Monika Gintersdorfer, which features three dancers sharing the stage: From New York’s voguing scene comes Alex Mugler, in both ballet shoes and high heels, inspiring pop celebrities à la Rihanna as well as star choreographers like Boris Charmatz. Carlos Martínez, on the other hand, grew up in Mexico’s sonidero culture, where touring sound systems with their DJs keep dance fans entertained with the latest songs. The third dancer, who goes by the name Ordinateur, moves his feet with such precision that he has earned the nickname Magic Feet. Couper Décaler is the name of this style originally developed by the Ivorian diaspora in Paris, which Ordinateur still helps to shape today. “TRIO – For the Beauty of It” brings together three dancers who stand for variations of clever and skilful bravado that reliably leaves the audience (and the competition!) overwhelmed in all the districts of the world’s cities.
