In a lecture and two panel discussions, influential Brazilian cultural theorist Suely Rolnik will raise the question of global cultural policy and in doing so reference two of her own key concepts: the concept of “molecular revolution”, which she used to examine the role of art and culture in Brazil’s return to democracy together with French psychoanalyst and philosopher Félix Guattari in the 1980’s, as well as the concept of “antropofagia zumbi”. The latter is based on the idea of cultural anthropophagy by Brazilian avant-garde poet Oswald de Andrade, with which he instigated rebellion against urban culture as well as leaving a significant mark on the Tropicália movement of the 1960’s.
