In six acts, the cultural historian Diedrich Diederichsen talks to Tonfunktion on the subject of “Gebrauchsmusik” and functional sound from the perspective of pop-theory. Following an abstract call-and-response principle, the music and performance duo Les Trucs in turn react to the thematic clusters and hypotheses with six musical miniatures.

Diedrich Diederichsen
Diedrich Diederichsen is a cultural philosopher, art critic and author and is considered one of the most influential German pop theorists. Among other things, he was editor-in-chief of the music magazine Spex, is an editorial advisor to Texte zur Kunst and teaches Theory, Practice and Communication of Contemporary Art at the University of Fine Arts Vienna.

Les Trucs
Les Trucs is a music and performance duo from Frankfurt am Main, consisting of Charlotte Simon and Toben Piel. They have been working together since 2008 at the interface of composition, musical happening and staged theatre using electronic instruments, vocals and choreography.
