UNA SOLO

Mousonturm Studio 1

Performance

Ted Kaczynski, former Harvard mathematics professor, decided to use a cabin in the woods to send out mail bombs. Johannes Schwarz, one-of-a-kind musician, soloist and member of the Ensemble Modern, commands a sound archive that stores tens of thousands of sound files and plays them on command. Theatre makers  Gregor Glogowski and Benjamin Hoesch approach the phenomenon of the solo terrorist and solo musician from an outside perspective: their music theatre performance follows the soloist into his meticulously designed archive and sketches an associative matrix of specialization, virtuosity and social isolation. Situated at the crossroads of craftsmanship and technology, sensuality and high art, discipline and anarchy “UNA SOLO” offers neither clarification, nor documentation. Instead, it draws the portrait of the soloist as an extremist in attitude as well as on his instrument, which remains radically foreign.
