Choreography/Dance

In her new piece Universal Dancer, Austrian choreographer and performer Doris Uhlich, transforms the theatre space in the epicentre of a social movement. In a world in which pragmatism and efficiency have seemingly become second nature to us, she seeks out opulence and idealism, community spirit and simultaneous transgression. In order to begin a global rave with Opening, Doris Uhlich returns to those beginnings of techno culture so closely associated with the city of Frankfurt – that moment in time, in which a musical movement become a collective act of dance, whose music radiated its energy outwards, whose movements spread like a tidal wave and in doing so managed to overthrow all our established notions of time and space.
