„A cor dos olhos de minha mãe era cor de olhos d’água” – the colour of my mother’s eyes was the colour of water – Conceição Evaristo
The movement of rivers, the oscillations of the tides and the cycles of abundant and scarce water are the starting point for the work of Bárbara Luci Carvalho, which presents a choreography based on listening to the historical and aesthetic experiences of black women in displacement. In this way, the performance proposes a participatory format with the audience through perception, dialogue, silence and the call for an end to violence against women. It’s an invitation to experience reflections on the healing process of our bodies from a black feminist narrative, which emerges through the Afro-Amerindian political movements of north-eastern Brazil.
