How much creative potential lies in destruction? Does manipulation offer an insight into the true nature of things? In her live installation ›Worktable‹, the performance, theatre, video and installation artist Kate McIntosh invites visitors to engage in a complicit task of dismantling and taking apart: Once inside the installation you are given instructions, equipment and safety goggles so you can get to work – it’s up to you to decide how things come apart and fall together.

Biography
Kate McIntosh
Kate McIntosh (NZ/BE), geboren 1974 in Neuseeland, arbeitet als Choreographin, Regisseurin und Performerin in Theater, Performance, Videokunst und Installation. Seit 1995 tourt die ausgebildete Tänzerin mit Arbeiten von u.a. Wendy Houstoun, dem Meryl Tankard Australian Dance Theatre, Cie. Michele Ann de Mey, Random Scream, Simone Aughterlony oder Tim Etchells auf internationalen Bühnen. Seit 2000 entwickelt sie eigene Choreographien, u.a. die Soli ›All Natural‹ (2004), ›Loose Promise‹ (2007) und die Gruppenperformance ›Hair From the Throat‹ (2006). 2010 zeigte sie ihren Varieté-Performance-Hybrid ›Dark Matter‹ bei PACT Zollverein; im selben Jahr war sie Referentin bei ›EXPLORATIONEN‹, einem PACT-Symposium zum Wissenstransfer. Im Winter 2011 war Kate McIntosh als Performerin in ›Although we fell short‹, einer Arbeit zum Genre der politischen Rede von Tim Etchells, bei PACT Zollverein zu sehen.
2012 zeigte sie die Deutschlandpremiere ihres Stückes ›Untried, Untested‹ in der ehemaligen Waschkaue. Die Uraufführung ihrer Performance ›All Ears‹ fand 2013 ebenfalls hier statt. Während IMPACT14, bei dem sie die Teilnehmer*innen als Workshopleiterin begleitete, zeigte sie das Stück noch einmal. Im April 2015 war sie im Rahmen der Reihe PORTRAIT vier Tage lang Gast bei PACT und zeigte ausgewählte Arbeiten in verschiedenen Räumen. Im Oktober 2016 kehrt sie mit der Uraufführung ihrer neuen Arbeit ›In Many Hands‹ zu PACT zurück.
Kate McIntosh ist Gründungsmitglied von ›Poni‹, einem belgischen Performancekollektiv und Punkrock-Band. Gemeinsam mit Diederik Peeters und Hans Bryssinck gründete sie SPIN – eine Organisation, die Produktionsmöglichkeiten für freie Künstler schafft.
