Extra Trouble 2012
Jack Smith, New York extreme artist and pioneer of queer and camp culture, died in 1989 of the effects of AIDS. The festival Extra Trouble – Jack Smith in Frankfurt demonstrates how vibrant his oeuvre is in all its exuberant intensity, diversity and consistency even today. The festival presents highlights of his cinematic and photographic work and brings them together with other genres such as the visual arts, music, dance, choreography and performance, as well as with those glittering stars of the scene, who even today continue to test the boundaries drawn by the ideologies of good taste and cultural imperialism.
