Beyond Beirut 2016

Performance, Concert, Film & Talk

As a lively, multinational metropolis, Beirut stands for the resistance of an entire region. For the city refuses to be reduced to images and discussions of war, refugees and isolation. In an exemplary fashion, a young generation of artists and intellectuals reflect the social dynamics between multiple political, religious and (inter)national positions. For four days, Beirut-born artist Lina Majdalanie brings together protagonists and positions from Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, France and Greece. The realities addressed in the performances and discussions allow visitors to experience a degree of networking and standard of discourse that reaches far beyond individual states right into the heart of Europe and beyond.
