TOGETHER FOREVER – Dance, Performers, Politics 2015

International Dance Festival & Summer Lab

The dance festival TOGETHER FOREVER presents artists, companies and collectives from the USA, China, Brazil and Europe with outstanding performances both on stage and in the public realm. Closely intertwined with both artists and the festival programme, young dance and performance makers will also be exploring the matrix of DANCE, PERFORMERS, POLITICS in workshops and lectures during the International Summer Lab with the goal of developing new methodologies and dramaturgies on the subject.
Many artists perceive the critical state of our current social coexistence to be a provocative challenge. In and through their work, they not only take a stand, but also make it their task to radically question and redefine existing artistic formats and concepts of assembly and participation. While belief in the representative power of theatre and its audiences is hereby challenged over and over again, performance itself conversely appears more than ever to be a valid space of mutual physical imagination and communication.
For what is it that we, the collectively present, can fundamentally do, must by all means do and wish to do at all? Instead of providing an answer, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and Tanzlabor 21 have together conceived the festival TOGETHER FOREVER with the aim of presenting exemplary projects and positions that invite visitors to examine effective relationships between artistic practice and social context in order to explore and renegotiate new necessities and possibilities in the relationship between art and politics.

The Summer Lab is a project of Tanzlabor 21 in cooperation with Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and the Universities of the Hessian Theater Academy.
