Long taboo, now increasingly the focus of politics: loneliness is increasingly being recognised as a social problem - with serious consequences for health and social structures. The media speaks of an “epidemic of loneliness” that is spreading worldwide and deeply affecting our social fabric. But how deep does the phenomenon go? What role do capitalism, social policy and extremism play?
Our event explores these questions. After short keynote speeches from a psychoanalytical and sociological perspective, experts will discuss the political dimensions of loneliness – from structural causes to possible solutions.
In discussion:
- Dr Mareike Ernst (psychologist at the University of Klagenfurt)
- Dr Alexander Langenkamp (sociologist at the Goethe University in Frankfurt)
- Moderated by: Miriam Davoudvandi (journalist and moderator)
