Alvin Collantes, born in the Philippines and raised in Canada, now lives and works in Berlin as a dancer, drag queen, and cultural mediator. In a work-in-progress showing, Collantes offers a first glimpse into the emerging solo piece Bibingka.
Bibingka – named after a traditional Filipino rice cake – is also the name of Collantes’ drag persona, born in Berlin’s queer nightlife and making a living in clubs and through executive coaching sessions.
The solo takes the form of a search for traces: What does it mean to live in Germany as a Filipino migrant? What counter-narratives lie beneath the make-up, the kindness, the energy – and the care for others? And what if drag is not just an art form, but the only space where identity can unfold fully, ecstatically, and truthfully?

Biografie
Alvin Collantes is a Transfemme Filipinx and Canadian Immigrant performance artist based in Berlin. Their work bridges the disciplines of Gaga Movement Language, holistic bodywork, pleasure activism, queerness and the art of drag. Their artistic practice centres around topics of migration, emotional upheavals of assimilation and excavating pre-colonial queer identities to build post-colonial possibilites.
