The ultimate highlight of every Filipino fiesta is the election and coronation of the ‘Festival Queen’. This is also an essential part of the ‘Sincerely Yours, the Philippines’ fiesta. The criteria for selection are not stereotypical beauty standards, trained grace, or financial resources, but rather the most extravagant costume. And everyone can make one themselves on the day of the fiesta in a workshop led by artists Leeroy New and Arvie Santos at Mousonturm. Leeroy and Arvie specialize in transforming everyday objects, found objects, or plastic waste into fantastic sculptures and crazy, wearable pieces.

Many fiestas in the Philippines are dedicated to a fruit or other food. At Mousonturm, too, the broad field of food and enjoyment is a source of inspiration for the queen's costume. Whether sweet, sour, spicy, sticky, or crispy, whether straight from the tree or field, cooked at home or industrially produced, all flavors, textures, states of aggregation, and references are allowed.

At the end of the workshop, choreographer Ea Torrado will give tips and tricks in a last-minute training session on the right steps and poses for presenting yourself as the festival queen in front of the jury. So that in the end, you can say: You are the queen!
