The collective “anybody walking?” not only strengthens and develops the ballroom community, but also the queer BIPoC spaces in Hesse. The focus lies on the ballroom scene as a cultural movement. Kiki Ball and Major Ball address participants with different levels of prior experience. Both events focus on the significance of ballroom and voguing as a historically grown and resistant culture – especially in light of the movement is becoming increasingly commercialised and appropriated. German Mother Panama Mulan (Kiki House of Hua Mulan) and all other initiators place particular emphasis on the transfer of knowledge, the preservation of culture and the empowerment of queer, trans* and non-binary People of Colour.

With international stars in attendance, the Major Ball raises the profile of ballroom culture in Hesse, creates new dance networks and sets an example for inclusion, self-empowerment and artistic freedom.
