Someone invented the supermarket. And the freezer. And the receipt. Hard to believe... But what does the supermarket tell us about our society? And what does it know about us? The theater collective imaginary company delves into a place that we believe claims to be a “natural” part of our everyday lives. Using receipts, the collective embarks on a journey into the belly of capitalism.
The performance group imaginary company was formed in 2017/18 during the next generation workspace residency at Mousonturm Frankfurt. The five artists in the group are united by the question of how to create sophisticated political theater for children and young people that takes its audience seriously as spectators and players. The focus is on the immediate experience of often abstract, complex issues in the form of performative and literary alienations of reality, which are usually preceded by extensive research.
