This training draws from the street dance style Whacking. The class consists of 60% set material/combos and 40% improvisation tasks, challenging coordination, endurance, speed, and precision, while iconic 80s disco tracks play in the background to keep the energy grooving. The technical focus specifies control of the arms, groove, and musicality.
Rooted in the queer club culture of 1970s Los Angeles, “Whacking” is approached here as both a physical technique and a culturally embodied practice that connects to joy and collective expression.
Let’s WHACK the week together!
