Liraz

Liraz Charhi’s music is more than just pop; it is also political. The Israeli actress, who has Persian roots, performs under her first name and has already released five albums. She sings in Farsi, collaborates secretly with Iranian musicians and gives a voice to the protest movement in Iran. There, despite the ban, her songs are listened to, danced to and sung along with – serving as the soundtrack to a courageous resistance in many protest videos by Iranian women in the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement. Her groovy electro-pop, with influences from Persian and Israeli musical traditions and echoes of 70s funk, immediately moves your feet and touches your heart. With her intoxicating blend of traditional and modern rhythms, she opens a musical gateway to a place of peace, joy and unrestricted freedom.
