LIVING INSIDE THE INSTRUMENT invites dancers to cultivate dynamic full-body awareness in motion. Inspired by Feldenkrais, elements of Modern Dance and Releasing Techniques, the training focuses on centering energy and internal support, isolation and integration of different body parts, and coordination and rhythm in relation to space and time through set material and choreographic phrases. Improvisational tasks are used as tools to awaken musicality and the potential for temporal and spatial design. Beginning on the floor paying attention to the movement of breath and the internal support, the training will evolve into standing and travelling sequences, exploring memory, phrasing, coordination and energetic contrast. The emphasis lies on clarity, spatial precision, and moving fluidly between tempos without losing structure or breath.
References to sensory stimuli:
The training works with sensory imagery and somatic cues such as weight, gravity, internal support, energy, feeling of rhythm and phrasing, breath, self-awareness and visuospatial orientation. Dancers are guided through kinaesthetic attention, sensing orientation, articulation and timing of limbs in the space, skeletal alignment, muscular tone, and energetic flow. Touch-based cues and imagery related to body structure, grounding, and explosiveness may be used to support embodiment and clarity.
