House Technique - House Meets Contemporary

The Profitraining serves as a bridge between club culture and performing arts. House dance—characterized by rhythmic footwork, flow, musicality, and individual expressiveness—meets the clarity, technique, and spatial awareness of contemporary dance. Participants explore groove, isolations, floor work, and dynamic transitions, as well as contemporary principles such as release technique, body awareness, and improvisation. The goal is to develop a personal movement language that embodies both the energy of urban dance and the depth of contemporary expression.

Biography

A qualified stage dancer, choreographer and lecturer with Brazilian-German roots, Raphael’s artistic work combines urban and contemporary dance forms with musical and visual forms of expression. Shaped by years of experience in house, hip-hop, locking and popping, as well as influences from capoeira, Raphael developed his own movement language based on rhythm, body awareness and flow.

Raphael studied contemporary stage dance at DansArt Tanznetworks and also completed a state-accredited training programme as a gymnastics teacher. His combined experience as a lecturer in Urban Dance Style at DansArt Tanznetworks and participation in festivals, battles and theatre productions shape his artistic practice. Particularly interested in encounters between different dance traditions and the question of how movement can function as a shared space for dialogue, his aim is to touch people emotionally through movement and to make art tangible as a space for shared experience.
