Contemporary - Choreographic Approach

Playfully challenging ourselves coordinatively and physically, the training will work towards movement phrases which we will develop (partly collaboratively) throughout the week. Grounded in the movement practice developed in collaboration with Noé Soulier and his team, the training proposes approaching movement as action (hitting, throwing, avoiding, dragging, etc.). As performers, we thereby explore the space between volition and sensation, intention and expression, engaging imagination and cognition. From a choreographic perspective, this is an invitation to revisit and play with ideas embedded in a lineage of dance ranging from ballet to post-modernism.

This inquiry will orient us throughout the warm-up, the learning of movement phrases, movement research and composition.

Any dance background is welcome.
