Down the Road

Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company, William Forsythe and Cyril Baldy

With the double bill “Down the Road” the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company brings together two works that are connected over more than 20 years. William Forsythe’s “N.N.N.N.” from 2002 meets the world premiere of „Body Me“ by Cyril Baldy, who was himself one of the original cast of “N.N.N.N.” and now looks back on the piece as a choreographer. Both works start from improvisation and intensify into precisely composed choreographies.

In “N.N.N.N.” a finely attuned interplay unfolds between four dancers. Breathing, movement and rhythm are intertwined, becoming independent voices that enhance and challenge each other. Body Me focusses attention on the body itself. Movements are generated from encounters, touching and reacting to each other.

Between Forsythe’s choreographic legacy and Baldy’s new signature, “Down the Road” opens a dialogue about how movement is passed on, about memory and how dance is continually created afresh.
