What do people of different generations have in common? Forum Tanzvermittlung discusses this question with reference to the artistic work of kabinet k and the piece bron. The choreographer and kabinet k company member Joke Lareyns shares experiences from her choreographic practice that children, young people and adults put on stage together. Starting with the meaning of the Dutch word “bron” (“source”), the piece bron explores questions of origin, association and bodily experience. Here it focusses in particular on touching as one of the primary and most fundamental forms of human communication: how does touching generate intimacy, trust and relationships? How are the boundaries and sensitivities of the different participants respected within this process? How can these experiences be researched and made visible choreographically? In an informal atmosphere Forum Tanzvermittlung invites participants to reflect on questions that are especially relevant in the fields of dance for young audiences and dance mediation.

Biography
Joke Lareyns is a choreographer with a background in philosophy. Together with Kwint Manshoven she runs the Ghent-based company kabinet k. The work of kabinet k can best be described in dualities: it includes both children and adult dancers, it is as physically intense as it is introspective, it confronts horror with beauty, its striving for simplicity is complex, it is both playful and dark, its seriousness is light as a feather. It moves through the world with determination, through countless frames and networks.
