Ogutu Muraya is a writer and theatre-maker whose work is embedded in the practice of orature. He engages the sociopolitical with the belief that art is an important catalyst for advocacy, for questioning our certainties, and for preserving stories often 'miss-told' or suppressed in the mainstream. Ogutu studied International Relations at USIU-Africa and graduated in 2016 with a Master in Arts at Amsterdam University of the Arts - DAS Theatre. During the last years, his work was presented at several festivals throughout Europe and East Africa, such as Fractured Memory or Because I Always Fell Like Running. After living and working in Europe for many years, Muraya moved back to Kenya in 2018 in the wake of the rise of the Far Right in Europe. As part of the im*possible Bodies #2 he will perform a reading from a text convolute of thousands of pages. He will reflect on his time in Europe as a political theatre maker and speak of the implications for decolonial theatre makers working in Europe.
