"Choreografische Werkstatt" gives the opportunity to get to know works of choreographers from the Rhine-Main-region which are still in the making and to reflect on them. During this edition Frankfurt based choreographer Clara Reiner will give insights into her performance “herden”, that she develops together with the artists Stine Hertel, Filomena Krause und Zuzana Žabková. The performance uses the phantasmagoric figure of the unicorn to explore fluid images of femininity. “In a museum in Paris, six tapestries from the early 16th century are on display. Each of the six tapestries depicts a woman (sometimes two) with a unicorn on her left and a lion on her right. They stand on a grassy disc surrounded by red and many flowers. The unicorn’s horn is very long. So long, that it seems impossible for it to get its mouth close enough to the grass to graze. Maybe the woman feeds it. Maybe this is what the floating flowers are for. Or maybe it will, in a swift flick of its head, drive its horn through the lion, the woman, (the other woman), and eat them.”
