Worldwide renown director Joris Lacoste makes it his business to chase down language rhythms and melodies hidden away in everything from day-to-day chatter to elaborate documents and then to assemble them into powerful-joyful music theatre pieces. In “Suite n°3 ’Europe‘”, he and the composer Pierre-Yves Macé sketch a bizarre, as well as, comprehensive linguistic portrait of Europe. Fanciful shopping lists by a Spanish Youtuber, French terror warnings for places of assembly, a humiliating job interview from Sweden, a nationalist speech by a member of the Hungarian parliament: original documents in all 24 official EU languages are spoken and sung by a brilliant performance duo superbly accompanied on piano. An obsessive exorcism that rids the words of their offending, sad, embarrassing or shocking impact by reproducing their every little detail.
