Congolese exiled playwright and actor Dieudonné Niangouna rants and rages across the stage and through the French language like no other. His latest solo tells the story of the theatre-maker Dido, who is brutally persecuted in Congo as an opponent of the regime and attacked in Europe as a traitor to the Afro-African cultural struggle. Out of necessity, Dido runs his own bar and speaks of his vision of theatre, which has accompanied him from Brazzaville to France. With melancholy, irony and tenderness, the production explores how “theatre can be done” in today's violent world. Video images from the dilapidated Théâtre National du Congo, from bombed-out Aleppo and Paris' Club Bataclan overlap with Zacharias' stories about his life, work and preparations for a new play entitled "The End of Anger / La Fin de la colère”.
