Tanzplattform Rhein-Main

The Tanzplattform Rhein-Main is all about dance: it features a wide range of production, performance and education formats, aimed at dance professionals and amateurs, who want to discover dance for themselves, as well as dance lovers from across the region. The mission of the Tanzplattform Rhein-Main is to strengthen dance makers and dance in the Rhine-Main region, help build local and international networks between individuals and institutions and raise awareness, as well as foster love for dance among even more people in the Rhine-Main region.

The Tanzplattform Rhein-Main is a cooperation between Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and Hessisches Staatsballett, which is the joint ensemble of both state theatres in Darmstadt and Wiesbaden. For the first time, an international production house and the dance department of two state theatres have joined forces over a longer period to form the Tanzplattform Rhein-Main – both contributing their creative input, their ideas and experiences.

Aside from the yearly Tanzfestival Rhein-Main, our multi-city residencies allow choreographers to completely produce their pieces with us. The “Ensemble Mobil” format gives artists a chance to create productions that tour the region and bring dance performances to places beyond conventional theatre venues. In addition, we organize and support Dance-in-Schools projects, regular training for professional dancers, medical consultation for dance makers, workshops and further professional training courses. In Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, we moreover also support dance clubs that allow for the participation of people of all ages.
