Hörspiel/Performance

Live radio play about the 1929 World Congress against Imperialism and Colonialism in Frankfurt

1929, a world congress against imperialism and colonial oppression, in Frankfurt? Indeed! The innovative part: representatives of colonised countries also participating and speaking for themselves. While Paris and London refuse to host the congress, Frankfurt opens its doors… Contacts develop, sparks of direct worldwide solidarity. This is the starting point of this performative reflection. Working with historical artefacts, the artists address in a rotating cast the utopian model of non-hierarchical democracy – which is truly viable when individuals take personal responsibility for general social responsibilities. The issue up for debate is personal points of view, combined with (still) unfulfilled hopes for a better, equitable world. Ultimately: an attempt to artistically enact a historical situation in the here and now.
