Can there be a female flâneur? Is it possible to overcome the fears and limitations associated with walking at night? And can the darkness not offer freedom and protection instead of creating threat and fear? The audio walk by media artist Johanna Steindorf raises these and other questions and follows a female protagonist through the twilight. She embodies the spirit of fictional and real women who demanded their right to walk freely, thus challenging the conventions of their culture and time. We follow Virginia Woolf, Griselda Pollock, Elizabeth Grosz and other authors on this audio walk. The audio piece mixes narratives, text excerpts, music and sound recordings of the place, as well as sound excerpts from various films of the 1950s and 1960s.
