Tanzfestival Rhein-Main 31.10.–17.11.2019

In the fourth year of its existence, the Tanzfestival Rhein-Main has taken on an essential role in the region’s cultural calendar. As a part of the  Tanzplattform Rhein-Main cooperation project, it promotes regional and international dance creators and makes their excellent works visible.

„Moving beyond“ is the motif of this year’s dance festival. Opening up to others to overcome your own limitations – this is in the DNA of many of the festival’s artists, above all Lisbeth Gruwez and her company Voetvolk. The Belgian choreographer stands in the focus of our new series, Spotlight. From now on in every year, the festival will present a number of productions from one artist and place an emphasis on them.

Artistry, yodeling, polyphonic songs, films and Oriental dance – the list of practices and forms is long that Gruwez and the other choreographers are experimenting with while questioning the usual ideas about what contemporary dance is. Dance has the power to move people physically, spatially and emotionally. The Tanzfestival Rhein-Main, which will take place in numerous cities, is inscribed directly with this movement. So that this can happen in an environmentally friendly way, this year Tanzfestival Rhein-Main is offering a ride sharing platform, Dancing Wheels, in cooperation with BesserMitfahren. It can be used via the dance festival’s website www.tanzfestivalrheinmain.de
