Faustin Linyekula

Choreographer and stage director Faustin Linyekula lives and works in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2001 Linyekula founded Studios Kabako in Kinshasa, a place for dance and theatre, and in 2006 he moved to Kisangani, opening it up to music and film. From training to production and touring, Studios Kabako is fostering the debuts of young Congolese artists. Linyekula is touring in Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas. He recently made a series of performances for museums, including the MOMA, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, th Central Africa Museum in Tervuren or in 2020 the Tate Modern in London. In 2016, Linyekula was associate artist to the city of Lisbon. In 2019, he is associate artist to the Holland Festival and was awarded in 2019 the Tällberg / Eliasson Global Leadership Prize.
