Sharon Jamila Hutchinson

Currently working as a freelance artist, Sharon Jamila Hutchinson initiates and co-creates processes and productions alongside the intersections of choreography, videography, film, dramaturgy, and performance. In doing so, artistic processes of making, fictionalizing, and documenting inform each other.

Transdisciplinary and having studied at the Contemporary Center for Dance, the Institute of Applied Theater Studies, and the Department of Film as well as Theater at Université Paris 8, she develops her collaborative and solo practice that respects bodies and landscapes as sites of memory and instrumentalities of witnessing. Her works and collaborations have been featured at Mousonturm, Frankfurt LAB, Senckenberg Museum, Alte Seilerei, Naxoshallen, Frankfurt am Main, Studio Théâtre of Paris 8, Südufer, Freiburg, Kampnagel Hamburg and many other venues, as well as various festivals.

In activist as well as cultural-political contexts, she works regionally and transnationally with various civic initiatives and organized communities.
