Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker has created many legendary dance pieces with her company Rosas and repeatedly explored central works of music as well as the relationship between composition and movement. Now, she has found a congenial interpreter for her new piece in the French-Canadian cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras. Together with Queyras and four dancers, she takes on Johann Sebastian Bach’s cello suites, considered one of the milestones of Western music history. De Keersmaeker, who already showed great affinity for Bach in earlier productions, strives towards a choreographic signature style that captures the essence of Bach’s musical language, its innovative architecture, its rhythmicity and its timeless beauty.
