Before the sets are taken down and the artists have left, Theater der Welt 2023 will send them off with a serious party.  Though the radio slogan “The best of the 80s, the 90s and the best of now” might be a little cheesy, it sums up this last night of the festival perfectly. The Frankfurt-based producer and DJ Liesinger is at home in the music world’s many oceans and these can be heard in her genre-fluid mix to open the evening. Afterwards, the DRKNGHTS collective from Amsterdam takes over. Once the musicians are on the decks, their underground club sound permeates the location. No less infectious: the sound of DJ Kirby (Blue Hawaii), who keeps busy as both a producer (for Brutalismus 3000 and others) and an artist with the duos “Das Beat” and “Blue Hawaii”. Somewhere in between the late 90s and Y2K, his invigorating sound reaches refreshingly deep into your pores to impact directly on your synapses. Anyone who doesn’t come away feeling an irresistible urge to wear baggy trousers probably hasn’t been listening. No worries: because next it’s time for summer wear and La Vita Di Mare. Live act Mind Enterprises transport us back to the 80s with some top Italian disco and fill the dance floor with groovy bass lines, hypnotic beats and cosmic keyboard riffs. The festival may almost over but we’re going to make the stage quake one more time. So come along, dance and shimmy your way through the night with us!
