The Disadvantages of People

Lokal im Mousonturm teilbestuhlt

Reading

When Gereon Klug is not inventing songs (such as Deichkind’s “Leider geil”) or developing revolutionary objects that make everyday life more beautiful and are not yet ready for the market (the world’s only edible cookery book to date), he is writing “psychedelic battle paintings” (taz) or, as Hans E. Platte, the “best newsletter in Germany” (FAZ). Klug publishes in Die Zeit, Titanic and allegedly also in Handelsblatt. Over the years, of course, that adds up to quite a lot of text. So it’s time for a new (unfortunately not edible) Klug book. “Die Nachteile von Menschen. 132 Beschädigungen aus dem reflektierten Leben” (“The Disadvantages of People. 132 Damages from a Reflected Life”) contains all of Klug’s columns for Die Zeit (including the rejected ones, i.e. the great ones) as well as new, darkly glossy unpublished stories, a few of his best newsletters and eccentrically true lists: all clearly top material, fantastic horoscopes of everyday madness!
