The glitteringly gorgeous twin voices of Paris-based sisters Naomi and Lisa-Kainde Diaz aka Ibeyi no longer just for insiders. The twins (“Ibeyi”) merge music from the West African Yoruba culture of their father – a member of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club – with the minimalist sound of James Blake, The Roots or King Krule. Their music combines samples and synthies, ritual songs and jazzy vocals – sometimes sounding like Björk, sometimes like Fever Ray. The debut album Ibeyi, produced by the London XL Recordings-Chef Richard Russell, was released in 2015 with enthusiastic reviews by Intro, Rolling Stone, Musikexpress and the ZEIT.
