By now, Katie von Schleicher’s creation of her first album “Bleaksploitation“ has become part of the legends as she produced it herself full of gumption and sass while interning at Ba Da Bing Records. Her new album, “Shitty Hits”, released in July, follows and refines her style uncompromisingly and hymn-like. With her gripping voice, she writes music that is inspired by
“petrol and a flamethrower” (The Guardian), sometimes quiet, sometimes loud, for sunrises and for the night. She concludes brilliantly with unswerving self-actualization: “Where is everything I hold to be true? / When you feel like you’re a door they’re knocking on / Or worse, that no one passes through / Do I hold my life? / No one’s gonna sell it back / Over my head.”
