How do we perceive music? What can one do with music? The two-part evening Opus / Näss combines two fundamentally different approaches to music and how dance can work with it. Together with the Leon & the Wolf Company, Christos Papadopoulos allows music to become an integral element of the performance: the borders between dancers’ bodies and music instruments meld; music and movement are inextricably joined. Thus Opus, a meditation on musical progressions, opens up a completely new perspective on our own automatic behavior patterns that come into force once the music starts. Näss, created by the French/Moroccan choreographer Fouad Boussouf, is also energized by music and an all-determining rhythm. Based on traditional movement sequences in Moroccan dance culture and in hip hop, Boussouf lets traditions and modernity clash in the movements of his seven dancers; thus transporting the audience into the streets of his Moroccan homeland.
