In multi-media settings and scandalous narrations, performance artist Mamoru Iriguchi acts out startling transformations of body, identity and gender. In Painkillers, his female alter ego battles with various forms of stage magic (e.g. sawing a woman in half!), the excessive physical dimensions of a gigantic fat suit and untraceability of pain that magically comes and goes.

Performance, Concept, Design, Sounddesign: Mamoru Iriguchi * Dramaturgy: Susanne Zaun, Nikki Tomlinson, Selina Papoutseli, Philipp Schulte * a commissioned work for Chelsea Theatre * supported by Arts Council England, National Theatre Studio, The Yard, Artsadmin * made possible by Tanzlabor_21 / Tanzbasis Frankfurt_Rhein_Main * supported by aerowaves – dance across europe.
