Phantom Ghost (D)

Mousonturm Saal bestuhlt

Concert

In ‘Pardon my English’, their homage to the musical of the same name by George and Ira Gershwin, Dirk von Lowtzow and Thies Mynther aka Phantom Ghost play a sophisticated and extravagant game with the eccentric and theatrical: Mynther on piano and von Lowtzow on vocals. They are inspired by musical and operetta – art forms that are still underestimated by many, as well as already handled gender issues and criticized the reigning bourgeois morality as early as the end of the 19th century. In an ironic swan song, ‘Pardon my English’ focuses on the contemporary lifestyle disease of higher-faster-farther in modern meritocracy, a “funny, Victorian, plush music melodrama… and perhaps the most eccentric and best record of the past year” writes the DIE ZEIT blog.
