The Winter’s Tale

Mousonturm Saal

Performance/Choreography/Music

The Winter’s Tale is the often avoided problem child in Shakespeare’s oeuvre. The individual storylines seem too confusing, the characters too many. The multidisciplinary collective Kuiperskaai decided to deal with this problem by resorting to brute editing and by declaring the tragedy of failure to be its main focus, if not its guiding principle. Director and author Lisaboa Houbrechts reassembled and interpreted the original text together with the collective. Within a fantastic universe, a story – wrested from the depths of sleep ¬– something between illusion and reality, passion and aggression, fairytale and nightmare unfolds anew.
