At a poetry slam, multiple participants read texts of their own creation in a limited time frame before an audience, who then evaluate both the contents of the text as well as the performance itself. The most exciting thing about such poetry competitions – even more so than the diversity of texts presented – is the performance, with which the poets succeed or fail to draw in their listeners. The audience alone decides who will be the winner of the evening.
