A balmy evening under open skies: on this particular occasion, the Capitol Symphony Orchestra is not playing with Peter Gabriel or Haiyti, but entirely for itself – and Frankfurt, Offenbach and the region. The urban summer serenade programme includes a tribute to the evocative film composer Ennio Morricone, perhaps the last great romantic in music history. Sparkling chamber pieces by Sven Helbig take tunes with pulsating chamber rock like Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” or “Hotel California” by the Eagles. Interspersed with original works for string chamber music by Georg Friedrich Händel, Edvard Grieg or Percy Alridge Grainger – as well as modern film scores such as “Pirates of the Caribbean” or “The Queen’s Gambit”.
