First Life – ein Melodram

Mousonturm Studio 1

Performance/Dance

Do you have time for a meeting today? Perhaps next week?. First Life – a Melodrama deals with fictive and real life partner relationships, with love affairs, break-ups and society. Often people speak about their private lives and ask others for their opinions on it. It’s generally agreed that although emotions are important, it’s not worth getting hysterical about the current liaison and that everything is relative. Rarely does someone say: “For me, the one thing that counts is a happy relationship.” The lack of negotiating space considerably restricts opportunities for a conversation. In First Life – a Melodrama, choreographer and performer Verena Billinger and Frankfurt choreographer and dancer Sebastian Schulz explore the developmental potential that it nevertheless contains in a continuation of Verena Billinger’s graduation piece from the Giessen Institute for Applied Theatre Studies.
