(Brüssel)

FOREVER

Mousonturm Saal

Performance/Tolle Künste/Dance/Installation/Music

When Gustav Mahler, received the diagnosis of his serious heart disorder, he composed Der Abschied, part of the cycle Das Lied der Erde – one of his most personal pieces and infused with deep sadness. While Mahler constrasts the struggle of man with his own mortality with the immortal, constantly regenerating nature, in FOREVER Lemm&Barkey question how death, the finite and limited nature of life itself can be celebrated in song, in dance. The human ability to remember becomes a leitmotif – also in the concrete handling of Mahler’s composition. An acoustically sensitive stage installation composed of porcelain parts lends the choreography fragile support.
