Panel: Similarities and differences in Hip-Hop Dance Culture from the U.S. to Europe

On the third day of the festival “Random Circles”, we focus on artistic crossovers and choreographic experiments. The day starts with a concert by the great Frankfurt band Riverside Collective.

At the Artistic Crossover, invited guests improvise with a band playing live music. Different challenges with various themes will be improvised and performed as dance solos, duos or in the group. This format aims to show the mutual potential of the urban scene with the theater world.

The festival ends with the piece “Bounce” by the Sons of Wind (S.O.W.) crew, founded in 2013, primarily by dancers, musicians and DJs with Caribbean and African roots. Inspired by the hip-hop culture of the 90s, S.O.W is not only a crew, but also a lifestyle that defends a shared cultural heritage. Their dance style, which is characterized by refined, difficult-to-control movements, reaffirms the Sons of Wind’s strong connection to hip-hop freestyle.
