A woman must have money and a room of one’s own in order to write, according to Virginia Woolf in her 1929 essay “A Room of One’s Own”. Under the modified title , Swoosh Lieu deal with the contemporary relevance of the text and ask what spaces we need for our work, autonomy and emancipation and what utopian feminist spaces are that we dream of. At Mousonturm, Swoosh Lieu is showing an interactive computer-based installation – a virtual “home” that can be controlled with the participation of the audience. This audiovisual adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s theses explores the means by which we have to imagine and narrate spaces in order for them to actually come into existence.
