For “Mapping Home” she asked the participating artists to collect sound material that they associate with their home or define as “home”. Julia Mihály used the material to create an electroacoustic composition in an imaginary space. How do the sounds of private, domestic, personal surroundings relate to each other in a shared space? At Mousonturm, sofa cushions, houseplants, desk lamps and wooden hi-fi speakers resonate in a staged living room; the sounds of everyday routines, concrete places and familiar interpersonal interactions combine to form an acoustic, collective “home”.

Biography
Julia Mihály
Julia Mihály (*1984) bewegt sich als Komponistin an den Schnittstellen von Neuer Musik, Performance Kunst und elektroakustischer Musik. Sie studierte klassischen Gesang und Elektronische Komposition an der Hochschule für Musik Theater und Medien Hannover und ergänzte ihr Studium mitWorkshops und Kursen am ZKM Karlsruhe, am STEIM Amsterdam, bei den Stockhausen Sommer Kursen Kürten und als Teilnehmerin der Internationalen Ferienkurse für Neue Musik Darmstadt. Nach Abschluss ihres Studiums 2012 arbeitete sie zunächst hauptsächlich als Interpretin zeitgenössischer Musik. Seit 2018 konzentriert sie sich schwerpunktmäßig auf die Tätigkeit als Komponistin und arbeitete u.a. mit Ensemble Resonanz, Ensemble Mosaik, hand werk, Meitar Ensemble und dem Isenburg Quartett. Sie ist Mitbegründerin des Kollektivs „Untere Reklamationsbehörde“, dessen Schwerpunkt seit 2020 auf dem ortsspezifischen sog. Empirischen Musiktheater liegt. Mihály war bisher mit ihren Arbeiten u.a. zu Gast beim Heroines of Sound Festival Berlin, dem Künstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt, Hellerau –Europäisches Zentrum der Künste Dresden, SIGNALE Graz, TEMPO REALE Florenz, SPOR Festival Arhus, NTU CCA Centre for Contemporary Arts Singapore, sowie als Interpretin u.a. bei der Biennale Musica di Venezia, der Ruhrtriennale und in der Suntory Hall Tokyo.
