Paulo Nazareth crosses continents. Walking through landscapes and cultural spaces, wandering through (hi-)stories and bringing them to light are the essential motifs of his work. His primary theme is always his own identity and that of Brazil, because “we Brazilians don’t know where we’re from”. As a Brazilian who shares indigenous, African and Italian roots, he exposes the exoticisms and stereotypes of the South and deconstructs established perceptions. Nazareth is one of the most sought after visual artists of our time from Brazil.
