Ousmane Sy, also known as Babson, was a sensation in the dance world. Originally coming from football and street dance, he conquered the international stages of high culture with his choreography “Queen Blood”. Presented by his ensemble, the internationally recognised Paradox Sal company, the piece combines house and Afro dance elements to create a powerful performance of female self-empowerment. It explores the impressive diversity of seven female dancers and fuses their individual stories into a passionate collective narrative. Babson’s unique movement language, infused with influences from house, hip hop and afro-house, gives the piece an exhilarating dynamic. “Queen Blood” is contemporary and timely, while creating a space in which connoisseurs of contemporary and subcultural dance alike can lose themselves.
